About Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association:

This Association is a registered body under the Registration of Society Act and represents the textile traders of the Chandni Chowk area. Established 106 years ago, today it has approximately 4,600 members on its rolls. This Association is basically a representative body and undertakes no manufacturing activities. Its primary source of income is the annual subscriptions of the members.

The principal aim of the Association:

The principal aim of the association is to work for and to watch the trading interests of the members in reciprocal co-operation and co-ordination with various governmental agencies like the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Police, Delhi Vidyut Board, Sales Tax and Income Tax Authorities, etc.

In addition, the Association also fulfills the following roles:

Enjoys judicial jurisdiction under the Arbitration Act for settlement of trade disputes of the members on ‘Punchpranali’ system (wherein a jury of five respected members is appointed), to avoid unnecessary litigation and court proceedings

Appoints Tribunals for revision appeals of the parties against Arbitration Awards. These Awards get due recognition of the Courts of Law, including the Apex Court

Publishes fortnightly bulletins for the benefit of the members

Occasionally arranges lectures/workshops conducted by government agencies for guidance on various matters related to the welfare of the members.
